ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
St. Stephen Martyr uses the Archdiocesan Curriculum Guidelines to plan programs and assessments. The Archdiocese also requires the use of Language Arts and Math portfolios. A portfolio is a purposeful selection of student work that exhibits a student's effort and achievements over time.
St. Stephen Martyr is a collaborative model school. Our teachers and staff are committed to working with students with special needs in consultation with the Office of Lifelong Formation and Education. Our instructional program is designed to meet the needs of children with mild disabilities. Children who have severe learning disabilities may require alternate placement in a different school.
St. Stephen Martyr also tries to reach the needs of the gifted by participating in the John Hopkins Talent search with our younger students and the Duke University Talent Identification programs for our 7th grade students. We are constantly striving to find outlets for our gifted students.
We also offer our students a Family Life program, an AIDS Education program, Peer Mediation programs, the Peace Keepers program and a Life Skills program for our upper grades. Other activities include: Quick Recall, Spelling Bee, Social Studies Fair, Science Expo, World Expo (Social Studies), 4-H, Drama Club, Children's Choir, Art, Spanish, Physical Education, Computer Classes, Algebra 1, and Make a Difference Project.
