The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches us that, "Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word."

Through the Sacrament of Baptism we are adopted into the family of God and St. Stephen Martyr Parish. To ensure that they fully understand their obligations and actively participate in the Rite of Baptism, parents are required to attend Baptism Preparation Sessions, either through St. Stephen Martyr or another parish. Godparents are invited and encouraged to attend, but are not required to do so.

Baptisms are typically celebrated on Sundays after the 10:30 AM Mass.
